Five Park Projects We Have Our Eyes On

During 2020, there was a lot of focus on keeping parks open, safe and welcoming for visitors. Park rangers had their hands full with cleaning bathrooms, picking up litter, clearing trails and talking with people. That’s only part of the work. San Mateo County Parks has been busy with park plans and projects too. Here are five projects we have our eyes on.

Rules of the Trail: A Good Reminder for All of Us

San Mateo County Parks are slowly reopening May 4. As we responsibly enjoy nearby nature, please keep in mind the following:

  • Please stay home if you are sick
  • Maintain 6 feet of physical distance between you and others
  • Stay local
  • Turn around if the trail is crowded
  • Do not congregate at trailheads
  • Wash your hands
  • Be kind

When the shelter-in-place order went into effect and inessential travel curtailed, many people headed outdoors to discover and enjoy parks and trails new to them. Parks saw an exponential increase in visitors. Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, parks were closed to ensure people’s health and safety.
