San Mateo County Parks move to Phase 2 on June 8

Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep parks safe and healthy for all. Please keep it up! Across the region, the vast majority of park and trail visitors have done so responsibly. In San Mateo County, we have an opportunity to make the parks welcoming, comforting and healing places to be and to share. The latest health order from San Mateo County Health Officer, Scott Morrow, was released on June 4. San Mateo County has made significant progress in slowing the spread of COVID-19. This has led to additional businesses being allowed to resume operations. San Mateo County Parks is also opening additional parks and facilities this month.

Rules of the Trail: A Good Reminder for All of Us

San Mateo County Parks are slowly reopening May 4. As we responsibly enjoy nearby nature, please keep in mind the following:

  • Please stay home if you are sick
  • Maintain 6 feet of physical distance between you and others
  • Stay local
  • Turn around if the trail is crowded
  • Do not congregate at trailheads
  • Wash your hands
  • Be kind

When the shelter-in-place order went into effect and inessential travel curtailed, many people headed outdoors to discover and enjoy parks and trails new to them. Parks saw an exponential increase in visitors. Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, parks were closed to ensure people’s health and safety.
