Bay Area Barns and Trails (BABT)
Bay Area Barns and Trails assists landowners and land managers with preservation and maintenance of publicly accessible barns, stables, pastures, staging areas, horse camps, and trails throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma Counties. Since 2000, BABT has helped conservation-minded equestrians preserve and restore natural areas and wildlife habitat, maintain parks and public open space, equestrian facilities, trails and trailheads by awarding matching funds to land trusts, agencies and/or equestrian organizations.
CuriOdyssey
CuriOdyssey brings children and families up close with the natural world. Their mission is to educate and inspire people to take care of the earth wisely. They offer the tools to question and explore our world: interactive science exhibits, hands-on and explorative school and public programs, and up close encounters with native California animals.
Friends of Edgewood
Friends of Edgewood preserves, protects, and restores Edgewood Natural Preserve’s natural resources. This volunteer organization coordinates many activities including docent-led wildflower hikes, habitat restoration, nature education, and hosting the Bill and Jean Lane Education Center. Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve
The Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Life Refuge is a volunteer organization founded in 1987 to preserve and protect this unique natural resource, to encourage educational and research programs there, and to support educational and interpretive services for schools and the public. Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Life Refuge study marine biology and intertidal interpretation and then lead tours through the tide pools or serve as roving interpreters, answering visitors’ questions or pointing out the marine animals inhabiting the reef.
Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks
The vision of the Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks is to promote environmental awareness and education through community participation in the preservation and enjoyment of our natural environment. Volunteer groups help rangers maintain the parks and educate visitors. The group also provides financial support for park programs and volunteer activities.
Friends of San Pedro Valley Park
The Friends of San Pedro Valley Park are a diverse group of individuals brought together by love of nature and concern for the park. Working for the benefit of all users of San Pedro Valley Park, the Friends play a significant role in supporting the park staff in their activities and in interpreting the park’s resources to the public. The Friends of San Pedro Valley Park also sponsor an enjoyable and informative series of natural history lectures presented as webinars or at the Visitor Center.
Pacific Beach Coalition
The Pacific Beach Coalition was founded in 1997 and is dedicated to preserving the ocean, coastal habitat, and wildlife, and ending litter through advocacy, education, community building, and citizen action. The Coalition is active with field and education programs, beach and community clean-ups, and other community opportunities.
REI Co-op
REI loves to get outside and play. Their mission is to inspire, educate and outfit for a lifetime of outdoor adventure and stewardship. Each year, REI donates millions of dollars to support conservation efforts nationwide and sends dedicated teams of volunteers—members, customers and REI employees—to build trails, clean up beaches, restore local habitats and more. They have been our partner on Coyote Nights summertime public events.
San Bruno Mountain Watch
San Bruno Mountain Watch supports education, stewardship, conservation, and outreach programs. They provide opportunities for people to explore and restore the Mountain’s unique ecosystems, including habitat restoration and clean up projects and their own Mission Blue Nursery for growing native plants.
San Mateo County Health
As a county health department, San Mateo County Health administers public health programs and provides clinical and supportive services to the community. Their mission is to help everyone in San Mateo County live longer and better lives.
San Mateo County Parks
From quiet redwood forests and curiosity-inspiring tidepools to family-fun picnic sites and playgrounds, San Mateo County Parks are places to reconnect with what matters most. The San Mateo County Parks Department operates 24 separate parks, encompassing over 16,000 acres, and 190 miles of county and local trails, including three regional trails. The Department provides recreational opportunities in a safe and effective manner, and protects and enhances the natural resources of the County.
The Trail Center
The Trail Center is an all volunteer organization that builds and maintains trails in the Bay Area. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Palo Alto, the trail center organizes safe, fun, friendly, & rewarding trail building events. It partners with Park agencies at the county (e.g., San Mateo County Parks), state (e.g., CA State Parks), and national and local levels.
