A Coastal Walk into Wonder

This event is now full

Friday, January 30, 2026, 10:00am at Mavericks Beach, Half Moon Bay

Led by Wendy Figone, Certified Forest Therapy Guide (ANFT)

Take a break from the digital noise and walk into wonder along the coastline. This free guided experience blends forest therapy and coastal mindfulness to help reset your nervous system, rebalance dopamine levels, and reconnect with what matters most.

Whether you’re a lifelong ocean lover or simply seeking a calming reset, you’ll be guided into your senses using gentle invitations to engage fully with the sights, sounds, textures, and awe of the sea with this forest therapy-style walk at the water’s edge. While many of us regularly walk this breathtaking coastline, how often do we truly slow down, notice, and fall into awe?

This isn’t about getting somewhere—like a hike might be— it’s about fully being somewhere.

This approach is supported by Attention Restoration Theory (ART), developed by Rachel and Stephen Kaplan. ART suggests that nature’s softly fascinating elements—like waves, driftwood, or the fractal patterns in sand and shells—can help restore directed attention and reduce cognitive fatigue.

This experience may just become your new favorite hobby. Wendy will share follow-up resources to help you make this part of your lifestyle medicine routine, protecting your mental, emotional, and physical health through regular, intentional time in nature.

As we deepen our relationship with nature, many participants report a renewed interest in local stewardship opportunities—an outgrowth of feeling more connected and attuned to the living world around us.

Come alone or bring a friend—sharing is always optional, and you’re welcome to participate as you are comfortable.

Notes: This is a light rain or shine event, and heavy rain will cancel. This free event is for individuals ages 18 and over. Each person needs to complete their own registration. Limited to 30 participants.

Parents & Babies Monthly Meetup

Ongoing, Second Friday of the month, 10:30-11:30am at Coyote Point Recreation Area

Meetups continue in 2026, starting on January 16!

A collaboration with San Mateo County Libraries

Start from day one and give baby the gift of nature!

Because parenting is a wild and natural process, it’s best experienced with the support of others.

Come join us for a free monthly parents & babies meetup at Coyote Point on the 2nd Friday of every month. Connect with other parents and babies to enjoy the outdoors – the fresh air, open space and calm surroundings. We invite you to come together to share experiences, struggles, worries, growth spurts, milestones, and ideas in a safe and supportive environment. Each month we will offer an optional activity – such as yoga, stroller-friendly nature walk, music, baby sign language and more. We will have time to connect with each other and also learn about local resources from the library. Coffee and light snacks will be provided as well as blankets for sitting.

Please sign up by the 1st Friday of the month to help us prepare by emailing cristina@supportparks.org. Let us know your name and how many people will be attending. We will send a reminder email with event details and free parking instructions a few days before.

Notes: Restrooms are available nearby and parking will be free for attendees. Stormy conditions will cancel or relocate.

This event is geared towards parents with babies under 18 months old.
