One of the most popular elements of the Quarry Park Master Plan is the pump track. A pump track is a continuous circuit of banked turns interspaced by rollers and other features that can be ridden on a bike without pedaling.
For the last year, San Mateo County Parks has been working with the Midcoast and mountain biking communities on the design of the pump track with an eye toward construction now happening later this fall. The community overwhelmingly voted for the “Flying X” design. The pump track will be located in the meadow at Quarry Park.
Site amenities will include a beginner track, an intermediate track and a perimeter skills trail. Picnic tables and a bike fix-it station will be onsite as well.
The Granada Community Services District has committed to providing $100,000 toward the construction of the pump track. The San Mateo County Parks Foundation received a $6,500 grant from REI Co-op for this project and we hope to match that with community support.
