Springtime Wildflower Walks | Free Parks Shuttle
Edgewood’s serpentine grasslands are renowned throughout California for their lush wildflower carpets and rich biodiversity. You might see dozens of species of flowers on a single walk! Our free walks vary according to what’s in bloom—covering about 3 miles, at a moderate pace, with frequent stops. Heavy rain cancels hikes.
Groups of 10 or more
Groups of 10 or more should make a reservation. For group reservations, please email email@example.com
In 2018, there will be walks every Saturday and Sunday, from March 10 through June 3. Walks begin at 10:00 AM and end around 1:00 PM. The walks schedule for 2018 will be posted soon.
Where to meet
Walks start from the Bill and Jean Lane Education Center at the main entrance off of Edgewood Road (red star on map) every weekend throughout the season.
On Saturdays in April, walks also start from the Clarkia Trailhead on Cañada Road (blue dot on map below).
Parking is limited. Carpool when possible. Allow extra time to park. Use extreme caution if parking on the street. Wherever you park, do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
San Mateo County Parks’ new Park Shuttle now links East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Redwood City to Edgewood Park’s main entrance. The shuttle service begins at 9 a.m. every weekend day at the East Palo Alto and Menlo Park shuttle stops. Click here for route map, schedule, and information in English and Spanish. To find out where the bus is now, go to sanmateo.thebus.mobi. Note that this link will only provide useful information on the weekends, during the hours the shuttle is running.
What to bring
Bring water, a hat, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, and a snack if you wish. We don’t stop for lunch, but picnic tables are usually available after the walks in the picnic area.
Restrooms and water are available only at the Education Center and in the picnic area.
