Tune in to NBC Bay Area this Sunday, January 24 at 6:30pm to watch the start of the second season of OpenRoad with Doug McConnell. Devil’s Slide, that “famously dangerous old road that became a safe new trail at the edge of the world” will be profiled. The San Mateo County Parks Foundation, in partnership with the County of San Mateo Parks Department, is proud to be an underwriter this season. Open space treasures from around the Bay Area will be showcased. “The most valuable real estate in the entire Bay Area is owned by us…we have more protected parks, open space and agricultural lands than any major urban region on the planet”- Doug McConnell
Be an Informed Park Visitor! Rains and high surf conditions lead to significant erosion along the coast The Pacific Ocean is wild and majestic and many of us enjoy walking the trails and bluffs above it. This season, King Tides combined with El Niño have led to much higher tides than normal. Further erosion is anticipated and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution. This includes staying on designated trails and keeping your dogs on leash at all times. San Mateo County Parks also put out this video encouraging visitors to the coastline to help protect sensitive habitats.
